I really like this recipe because the whole wheat flour, brown sugar and extra spice makes for a very satisfying sweet and spicy waffle, while the 2 teaspoons of baking powder results in a light texture.  Be careful not to over mix when combining the wet and dry ingredients. It's perfectly fine to have lumps.  Also don't preheat your waffle iron until you've finished preparing the batter, so that it has time to rest and rise slightly before making the waffles.
